Clever Ideas for Saving Money?

(Robin Dickinson) #1

I know lots of people have clever ideas for saving money.

Two of mine are to use a Halloween black light instead of a pricey Woods Lamp and to use a cheap jeweler’s loupe off Amazon instead of the pricey ones sold for doctors. Anything that has “medical” stamped on it is automatically marked up.

I also do a lot of Google searches… “cheap chux pads” (home care supply companies) or “cheap cryotherapy” ( has been the best I’ve found) or “cheap business cards”

I used Craigslist to find most of my medical equipment and I dragged it home from the garages of various retired doctors, dentists, and vets. My office furniture is also off Craiglist…but came from normal people’s living rooms.

What other tricks of the trade for saving money?

Variable speed oscillating tool for cast removal. It doesn’t have a vacuum attached like the medical ones, but cleanup isn’t that bad. Make sure to get a variable speed one, though.

Here’s an example of one like we have…
